Thursday, October 10

We started our day off with a peaceful morning, in spite of our Word of the Day being "anarchy." Some highlights for the students included a Thanksgiving assembly, a fun rounding math game ("I Have... Who Has...?"), and an exciting section of our class novel, Because of Mr. Terupt. It was so exciting, in fact, that we had to finish the section after lunch! Students are eager to hear what happens next, and are frustrated that they have to wait until after the long weekend to keep reading!

Math game

Students got creative during Choice Day in Phys. Ed.

We also continued to explore wetland food chains and webs in Science, and began looking at what makes us unique and different as part of the concept of diversity in Social Studies. Students will be bringing home a letter today about an important Social Studies assignment that involves interviewing family members about their family history as well as preparing an artifact to share next Friday. Please support your child in completing this work by Thursday, October 17, and let me know if you have any questions. We realize that you may not be able to answer all questions on the sheet, but please just complete it as best you can. Also, please ensure that whatever your child chooses to bring as a family/cultural artifact is okay to stay at school overnight and is not something that you/they would be devastated to lose. A photograph of the artifact is an acceptable alternative if it is something precious.

Just a reminder as well that school photo orders are due this week, so please place your orders ASAP if you are interested in purchasing prints of your child's picture. Retakes will be on November 5.

Have a safe and fun Thanksgiving weekend!
