This morning we continued working on our rounding skills, French numbers, and our Maze of Bones visual journal pages. Six students also generously offered to help grade 2 students create magnet gameboards. Ms. Drummond was really grateful for the assistance of these volunteers! More volunteer leadership opportunities such as this will arise as the year goes on.

This afternoon was an exciting one! We began reading our new class novel: because of mr. terupt by Rob Buyea. We were introduced to the seven main characters, who take turns narrating, and students were excited to begin learning about these complex and diverse characters. We had some really interesting class discussions about topics such as bullying and self-image, and we can't wait to see what other topics and ideas come up as the book progresses.

We also had an interesting presentation this afternoon about our digital footprint and how to be safe online. Students considered and discussed the types of activities that they're doing online and how their choices now might impact them in the future. Our presenter emphasized how once something is online, it is there forever, and that it is therefore very important to think before we post. We also discussed cyber bullying and how best to handle these tricky situations.

More information and activities, along with the videos we watched in class, can be found on the TELUS Wise website. Students were also invited to take the TELUS Wise Digital Pledge to #EndBullying. Families are strongly encouraged to continue these important conversations at home.

School photo proofs are coming home today. If you would like to order pictures, the order deadline is Friday, October 11. Retakes will be on Tuesday, November 5.
