Today in Math we reviewed two digit by two digit multiplication strategies and then began some practice questions in the textbook. On Thursday we will review these strategies once again and then continue practicing.

In Science we finished up our electricity and magnetism visual dictionaries. This is now Unfinished Work for students who have not yet completed it.
In Language Arts we began exploring "showing, not telling," which will ultimately help to make our writing more effective. We began this work by having students volunteer to act out different emotions and then writing descriptions of how they acted/looked. For example, instead of "Alicia is sad," we wrote: "Alicia thumped downward and crumpled into a ball. She put her head down into her arms, staring at the floor. She sobbed quietly, her hands wiping tears away from her face. Her mouth was pouting and her chin wrinkled." This is also work we will continue with in the coming days.
After lunch we had our Positive Choices reward (free computer time along with pjs and stuffies). We also finished chapter 13 of The Boundless and had some quiet reading/unfinished work time.
Class lists are coming home today for students who would like to hand out Valentines on Wednesday, February 12. While handing out cards is optional, students who do choose to bring cards are required to bring one for each child in the class. Please let me know if you have any questions!
